My Financial Journey Vision

Like many of you, I’m on a financial journey, and all good journeys should include a vision!

My vision is beyond debt freedom. It is to truly be financially independent. To be able to access and live off of the money that we have saved and invested, without receiving income from anywhere/anyone else.

57 is the age when I believe my husband Marc and I will be financially independent.

In 2029, we should be at a point where we will NOT HAVE TO ADJUST ANYTHING about our current lifestyle and can CHOOSE to no longer be employed.

We will live off of taxable investments for the first couple of years, and then be able to tap into retirement accounts at 59 1/2.

Beyond that point, at whatever age it makes sense, and depending on what is actually available, we will file for social security benefits as well.

I honestly don’t know whether we’d come up with any rationale to file “early” or not.

In 2029 the kids will be out of college, have their own careers, insurance and be off our cell phone plan. By then, Marc and I will have spent a few years of being semi-kid-free again and see what we enjoy doing with our extra time - a bit of practice for the next phase!

So there’s my plan! I’ve now put it out into the universe, so let’s see it happen!
